I do apologize if this has been asked and answered before, but I didn't see it. First I just want to say, I'm officially a published poet and I have only been comfortable posting in the published poetry thread. Which is fine for my "published poetry"
But as for anything else that we post here, for us who are serious into publishing etc and maintain copyrights etc is it unwise to post (new) poetry here you may want to eventually publish? I worry about people thieving my writing and I KNOW there is the disclaimer on this board saying not to copy or use the authors poetry without permission and that the poetry is owned by its poster - but would that really stand up in a court of law? Has this site/community gone through proper channels to legally protect its users work if someone say, did copy it? I just want to know what risk there is for me for posting new material I'm working on here? Because I'd really like to. But I need to know, is the disclaimer still basically "post at your own risk" type thing or would I have some security and protection for my work posted, on this forum? Someone please let me know.. Because I would really like to post poetry non-other than my already published poetry, but I want to feel safe in doing so, in case I do decide to publish my "new" poetry I post here...
Thanks!

Hi Kim...
Basically every writer and poet who post articles, short stories, poems etc. online; there is always a risk of someone trying to steal your original ideas. However, when you post something online: there is a date and time listed in the posting. In general, I alway post my published name under all my writings.

Thank you for your help on this... This is what I kind of imagined. I think you are right though, I will post my publshed name with all of my posted poetry. I did read that tecnically though people can easily steal on the internet, if the author/writer wants to pursue it, they can defend it since postings and writings on the internet are considered copyrighted. So I will be careful, but still post here. thank you for your reply..
