I haven't been posting for a few days, since I'm working on some new poets pages.
I have been monitoring posts though and have been interested in the comments posted around critique.
There has been a good post recently about having 2 sections for Poetry....One section for sharing poetry and another for accepting critique on poems.
I think this is a very workable solution, and would be easy to activate.
Critique can be a valuable tool for Poets striving to improve their work, providing the critic, uses respect and dignity for the poet while sharing this feedback.
What are your thoughts?
Should we make 2 sections?

I think it is a splendid idea. It should be made very clear though that rude personal attacks and name-calling will result in the offender being barred from the site. ~serenepoetress

Without critics where would we be? I think the idea is a great one. So long as the critic specifies the dislikes.....and as a person who writes i feel that sometimes maybe the critic is the person in which cannot open their minds enough to understand words one has written.....Keep this in mind to all the poets whom are critisized for their work......

Good points and I think this is covered in the board rules (I Hope). Is anyone interested in Volunteering as a Moderator? This is a Free Site, so there is no financial disbursement, but if anyone is interested...please contact me Wow, this forum hasn't even been up for a week and the response is impressive

Cyrix Thank you for your interest in being a Moderator! Yes you would have to register! Once you are, leave me a message and we'll talk about this. (Rules, Conduct, etc...) I am going to set up the board now...with the current section the critique one, and a new one for strickly sharing. Anyone else interested in being a Moderator? There can be more than one too!

A moderator? well id love to be a moderator personally but i dont feel that ive been around long enough to be able to be a moderator.... but before i make any kind of final decision i got a few questions to ask... 1:what does a moderator exactly do? i mean is all that a moderator does is make sure there arent any bad posts? 2:would I if i say, become a new moderator, be able to create whole new sections to post things in? or would that be a type of thing where i get an idea and then send it to you to get the go ahead or wait a second? 3:how would i actually go about taking the test or signing up or whatnot?
Thats all for me for now folks... pardon the LONG post

as a moderator: - You of course: participate in the forum
- Review and know the rules
- Are a contact person for poets
Mostly it's maintenance. Deleting a duplicate posting, editing a posting (upon a request), answering questions about the board...etc.. If a poet contacts you with a complaint re: a rule violation Then you must review the rules, make a decision and act on it. Whether that's a reply with your findings...deleting postings...or banning a member I would need to be consulted for some of these and some you act on your own. Hope that answers your questions Also "cyrix" I have left you a private message here on the board, but have yet to receive a reply!
