I liken writen poetry to contour drawing. While studying art I learned contour drawing which is described as follows. One looks at their subject and place pen/pencil to paper and begins to draw their subject. Here is the fun part, you never look at your paper or remove the pen or pencil from your drawing tablet and when finished you would be surprised at the outcome. But your eye must follow every line of the subject and there is no concern whether you cross over other lines or not for that is not the lesson. The lesson is learning to see, feel and discover the essence of your subject.
In poetry one can perform a similar excercise. Do not look at what you are writing but simply close your eyes and write on what you see and do not fret over typos and then see what your image is like of the picture you have had in your mind.
Just an approach.................Love to all................doug
