This may be out of order and my apologies if it is and just ignore the request. I have been trying to find a poem I read some time ago and can only remember a very vague few words from it. Is it possible someone may know it and point the title out to me? I would appreciate it very much. It reminds me of something that could have been written by Robert Frost. Tho I've looked thru at least most of what he's written and cannot find it. It was found in a poetry book from my local library (maybe it's checked out now). The book had sections for different subject matters. It was under poems of loss or of lost love....or something of that nature. There were other subject sections also. Within the poem was a phrase about seeing or meeting someone and them reminding them of a time of innocence (or an innocent time) and a time of purity. That was why the person gave into the feelings for that person, because seeing that person recalled a time of innocence in their past. A pure time or a time of purity. Those types of words were absolutely a part of the poem. I thought it was Frost, because I vaguely recall something about being in or along the edge of the woods (or trees), which was something Frost used several times. I hope someone has a clue for me about who wrote the poem and it's title? Thanks so very much for allowing me to post the inquiry. With appreciations questor

thank you very much I keep scouring my local library, but possibly it is checked out. It seems (vaguely) that the man was walking in a woods of some sorts and spied a girl from his vantage point. (sounds like Frost again) She recalled in him that time of innocence and what he saw was contrary to what his life was at that time. She recalling a being clean and pure. A time of innocence, a pure time. It was such a well written and balanced poem I'm sure it had to be done by one of the master poets....like Frost, but not certain. It seems to have been an older book and a collection type with the sections, spoken of, for differing themes. A poem of loss, etc. Appreciate your looking. I'd very much like to read it again. thanks!

Questor I wish I had better news Really wanted to say....I found it But alas, I don't think I did I did find a few poets that fit your discription Edwin Arlington Robinson and William Blake and a great library on Robert Frost www.ketzle.com/frost/I hope that will help Found one poem that was really great I know it's not the one your looking for; but I'll share it anyways The Girl I Used To Be
She came tonight as I sat alone, The girl I used to be... And she gazed at me with her earnest eyes And questioned reproachfully: Have you forgotten the many plans And hopes that I had for you? The great career, the splendid fame, all the wonderful things to do? Where is the mansion of stately height With all of its gardens rare? The silken robes that I dreamed for you And the jewels in your hair? And as she spoke, I was very sad For I wanted her pleased with me... This slender girl from the shadowy past The girl that I used to be. So gently rising, I took her hand, And guided her up the stair Where peacefully sleeping, my babies lay Innocent, sweet, and fair. And I told her that these are my only gems, And precious they are to me; That silken robe is my motherhood Of costly simplicity. And my mansion of stately height is love, And the only career I know Is serving each day in these sheltered walls For the dear ones who come and go. And as I spoke to my shadowy guest, She smiled through her tears at me. And I saw the woman that I am now Pleased the girl that I used to be.

thanks for the links.... Had not read robinson for so long I'd forgotten. That poem was nice, but the one I'm interested isn't a lost love poem per se. It spoke of much deeper things. It was about loss....yes, but it spoke of much deeper meanings. It illustrated how a person (for a short time) is deluded (or deceived). Recalling a time they were innocent and their way was pure and not unclean. It made his heart open, when it was shielded, because it was a purity and an innocence felt again. I can grasp the meaning so clearly, but the words are not there precisely enough and possibly shouldn't be spoken in the context I would speak them.....being spiritual in nature. Thanks for the attempt tho. Be Well
